ACTUALLY YOU KNOW WHAT, WHILE I’M HERE, HAVE ANOTHER INTERESTING FACT.

As some of you may or may not know, pronouns in Japanese work very differently from pronouns in English.

Before he makes the bet, Seishirou refers to Subaru using ‘kimi.’  After the bet he switches to using ‘anata,’ which continues right the way through X until his very final words which are ‘Boku wa… kimi wo…’ where he obviously switches back to ‘kimi’ one last time.

It’s one of those things that doesn’t really translate at all, given that there isn’t really any way to communicate that in English but yeah.  You could interpret the symbolism there a couple of ways, but I’ll leave that up to you guys.

So!  I got a TB artbook, which I’d been planning on buying anyway but it was one of the very first things I saw when I entered the convention hall, so I was like THIS IS FATE.  Then also super-adorable pin badges & two gorgeous poster sets.  I’m gonna frame the poster of precious baby & put it on the wall somewhere hopefully so I can sob violently every time I enter the room.

I also spent most of the day hanging out with inmyvortex who is lovely ;w;  All in all A SUCCESSFUL DAY I THINK.

• Scanlations: you can read those here, though there are a lot of mistakes in the translation, plus the image quality & lettering are really patchy in places so… read these with caution.
• Raws: you can download them here, sometimes physical copies pop up on eBay or you could order from various Japanese sites using a proxy service.
• Official translations: I know Viz did an initial run of these some years back which have since gone out of print.  The artwork is flipped & the translation is awful, avoid.  Then more recently they rereleased X in omnibus format, with three volumes per book.  You can get the first two books here & here, they cover the first six volumes between them.  That’s all that’s been released so far.  In all honesty I’m not keen on this translation either but it’s better than the scanlations, on the whole.
